Canadian AHT/VT’s working overseas
When a registered AHT/VT considers working overseas, either permanently
or on a visitor’s visa, keep in mind that each Veterinary
Nurse Association (VNA) will have their own membership criteria.
Contacting the respective association in the location that interests
you is an ideal way to investigate the qualifications and requirements
for membership. CAAHTT is a member of the International Veterinary
Nurses and Technician Association (IVNTA), and a process is being
set in place whereby the national association (in this case CAAHTT)
submits a list of recognized AHT/VT training programs in Canada.
This list may be found on our web site. A current list of the membership
of the IVNTA, the Veterinary Nurses Associations (VNAs) can be found
on the web site of the IVNTA: www.bvna.org.uk
Membership in your local AHT/VT Association which includes CAAHTT
membership is beneficial.
The VNA’s are the best source for employment opportunities.
They may advertise your situation in their newsletter. There are
also web sites that may help your search: see our Career Opportunities
section for Canadian and International job opportunities. In the
United Kingdom go to www.1stcontact.com
for banking information and assistance.
It is recommended that you contact your local authorities or embassy
for details regarding work visas and requirements for working overseas.
